To start the week off right, I woke up this morning at 5 till 6 to hit the gym. I really wanted to sleep in because I could tell how cold it was outside, but when I thought about how much more energy I’d have throughout the day I was able to rise from the warm comforts of my bed.
Today was weight lifting/core training day mixed with a 5 minute warm-up on the rowing machine and a 15 minute cardio post-lift on the elliptical runner. I tend to forget how good I feel after lifting weights. Running has an energizing effect by making me feel fast and light, but weights give me the feeling that I am tough in a different sort of way. Building my muscle strength is also a key factor for becoming a stronger runner.
My workout was complete by a delicious chocolate protein shake. Now I’m ready to take on the day!
Chocolate Banana Protein Shake
2 scoops of chocolate protein shake
1.5 cups skim milk
1 spoonful peanut butter
handful of ice
Mix in blender and serve
