The Guilty Eating Train Has Left the Station

Food–the source of good and evil in this world.  How can it be that food is both our strength and nourishment while also being our crutch and guilty pleasure?  Most, if not all of us, would agree that eating healthy is not as much fun as diving into a piece of chocolate cake, and yet when we do eat healthy we feel so much better about ourselves.  Rather than starve ourselves of the food we love we should aim  to eat delectable foods in moderation.  Yes, it’s a cliche, but I do believe that moderation is the key to life! 

The same can be said of exercise in that if we go 100% every day working our bodies to the max, they are eventually going to tell us “please stop and let me be a slug on the couch.”  And it’s ok…so I say even though it’s a new year you are allowed to have a few unhealthy eating habits, like ordering that sundae from the McDonald’s drive thru or having a cheeseburger with all the fixings.  Moderation keeps the guilt from creeping back into our lives, too!  Just be sure to keep stock of feeding good things to your body because they are needed to fuel a better workout and create a better centered you throughout your day.  And that is something to smile about.

Growing up I played soccer and softball (and tested track & field for one year). After college I ran a few 5K races, but running was really only a means to staying in shape for me.
