Mid-Day Workout

One of the beauties of working from home (on the rare occasion I have to do so) is that I can squeeze in a lunch-time workout at the gym.  Today’s routine consisted of the following:  2 mile run on the treadmill, weight lifting  (chest and arms), sit-ups and back-ups on the stability ball, 60 pushups and 500 jump ropes.  I am especially proud of the jump ropes–I did 5 sets of 100 and in between did the pushups.  I felt very good doing this until I saw the really skinny but buff woman nearby doing a crazy routine that consisted of a kettle ball upper body exercise, pushups and mountain climbers.  I will admit she scared me.    But that’s ok because I bet she couldn’t do 500 jump ropes!

I came home and made a delicious smoothie.  Ingredients below. 

Blueberry-Peach Cobbler Smoothie


1/2 cup ice

1 cup orange juice

1 cup lowfat vanilla yogurt

1 cup frozen peaches

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 scoop vanilla protein mix (25 grams protein)

Mix in blender and enjoy.  Yields 16 ounces.  Add more peaches or fewer blueberries to bring out a peachier taste.
